Our Impact

At My Independent School (MIS), impact is measured by our ability to reduce barriers to education, rebuild confidence, and support young people toward positive, sustainable futures.

Demonstrating Meaningful Progress

We evaluate our impact through qualitative and observed indicators across student engagement, educational achievement, personal wellbeing, and post-school transitions. This ensures our flexible model delivers genuine outcomes tailored to each student's unique pathway.

1. Student Cohort Needs

We provide tailored adjustments under the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) to ensure learning environment modifications directly support students experiencing learning, social, or emotional barriers.

2. Educational Re-engagement

We focus on rebuilding positive relationships with learning, helping young people who enter MIS from disrupted, chronic absentee, or challenging educational backgrounds return to consistent routine and classroom participation.

3. Qualifications & Attainment

We support pathway success across the Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA), VET certificates, and individualised learning goals aligned with student strengths.

4. Pathway Transitions

We work closely with graduating students to guide successful, supported transitions into employment, vocational training, apprenticeships, or further higher education beyond Year 12.

Cohorts & Outcome Pathways

Our targeted support and individualised approaches help students achieve meaningful milestones across key areas of school life:

Beneficiary Support

Individualised learning adjustments and accommodations provided for students requiring learning, social, or environmental support.

Attendance & Participation

Sustained improvements in regular attendance, active classroom participation, and daily connection with the school community.

Re-engaging Learners

Targeted transition strategies to support young people re-entering education after extended periods of school refusal or disengagement.

Senior Qualifications

Flexible senior study options helping students earn QCE credits, QCIA goals, or industry-recognised VET competencies.

Post-School Pathways

Dedicated career planning and practical guidance to facilitate confident transitions into work, further study, or trade pathways.

Wellbeing & Capability Development

Alongside academic progress, MIS focuses on developing essential life skills, emotional regulation, and personal agency:

  • Self-Regulation & Safety: Developing internal coping strategies and building capacity to stay regulated and engaged in learning spaces.
  • Independence & Agency: Fostering self-advocacy, personal goal setting, and practical life skills needed for adulthood.
  • Community & Belonging: Cultivating strong peer connections, a sense of personal safety, and trusted relationships with staff networks.

A Purpose-Driven Outcome

Education at MIS is structured so that removing barriers to participation leads directly to increased confidence, personal capability, and active lifelong community participation.
