The senior years at MIS focus on helping young people translate educational participation into meaningful future opportunities. Students receive individualised support to develop achievable pathways based on their strengths, interests, circumstances, and goals.
Through senior education, vocational learning, community experiences, and transition planning, we support young people to develop the qualifications, capabilities, confidence, and independence needed to move toward further education, training, employment, and meaningful participation in their communities.

We work with students to navigate Queensland senior education pathways with appropriate adjustments and pace:
- QCE Pathways: Support to plan and attain the Queensland Certificate of Education.
- Applied & General Subjects: Subject selections matched to learner strengths and capabilities.
- Alternative Assessment Arrangements: Access to QCAA AARA adjustments to reduce barriers during assessment.
VET & Practical Learning
Vocational Education and Training (VET) provides practical, hands-on opportunities to build industry-recognized capabilities:
- Certificate-level courses across diverse interest areas
- School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SATs)
- Structured workplace learning and community partnerships

Transition & Independence Planning
Moving from school into adulthood requires deliberate support, self-advocacy, and practical life skills.
We partner with students, families, and external support agencies to guide transition planning, ensure continuity of support, and foster the independence needed for long-term success.
Senior Phase of Learning
In Years 10 to 12, students focus on their individual strengths and goals. Year 10 serves as a foundational transition year where students complete their Senior Education and Training (SET) Plan before selecting QCE subjects, ATAR pathways, or vocational options for Years 11 and 12.
